New Volkswagen buyers will be very impressed with the level of technology available with the 2017 VW Tiguan. Each of the available trims comes with a system or two which enhances connectivity or safety. Bluetooth options for streaming music are nearly universally standard as is the Volkswagen Car-Net App-connect system. The new crossover SUV also offers VW’s Car-Net Security and Service emergency communications on its new trims.
New Trim Grades
The first of the new trim grades for the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan is the Wolfsburg Edition. On top of what is standard with the vehicle’s entry-level model, the new trim adds a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support and a power reclining passenger seat. New Sport-trimmed versions use adaptive Xenon headlights, foglights and cornering lights. Owners will also have LED daytime running lights, sport-tuned suspension and driver memory settings. This is the trim that offers GPS navigation capability.
Sporty Performance
Under the hood of each version of the 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan sits a very capable turbocharged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine making 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. Owners that would like some extra peace of mind can choose to have all-wheel drive instead. During independent testing, a front-wheel drive version of the 2017 Tiguan was clocked accelerating from zero-to-60 mph in about 7.5 seconds, an excellent time.
